Information and advice on use AIR CONDITIONING
Automatic mode
Press the button 3. AUTO appears on the display 4.
The automatic climate control system ensures, in most cases, a comfortable temperature
in the passenger compartment, while maintaining good visibility and optimising fuel
consumption.
This is the recommended mode of use.
To reach and keep the chosen comfort level and to maintain good visibility, the system
controls:
- the ventilation speed;
- the air distribution;
- the air recirculation management;
- starting or stopping the air conditioning;
- the air temperature.
Only the temperature and the AUTO symbol are displayed.
Functions managed in automatic mode are not displayed.
- press the button 9 to increase the temperature;
- press the button 10 to reduce the temperature.
Note: the maximum and minimum settings of 15°C and 27°C allow the system to produce a minimum
or maximum temperature, whatever the ambient conditions.
Tip
In automatic mode (AUTO lit on the display), all heating and air conditioning functions
are controlled by the system.
When you modify certain functions, AUTO goes out. Only the modified function stops
being controlled by the system.
Adjusting automatic mode
The system normally operates in automatic mode but you can alter the standard settings
used by the system (air distribution, etc.). These options are explained on the following
pages.
Tip
Automatic mode is the recommended mode of use
The automatic climate control system ensures, in most cases, a comfortable temperature
in the passenger compartment, while maintaining good visibility and optimising fuel
consumption.
The types of adjustments that can be made are described in the following pages.
Return to automatic mode as soon as possible.
Tip
The displayed temperature values show a comfort level.
When the vehicle is started, increasing or decreasing the value displayed does not
mean that the temperature reaches comfort level more quickly. The system still optimises
the decrease or the increase in temperature (the ventilation will not start at maximum
speed immediately: it increases gradually). It may take from a few seconds to several
minutes.
Generally speaking, unless there is a particular fault, the dashboard air vents should
remain open.
Distribution of air in the passenger compartment
Operation
There are five possible combinations for air distribution, which may be selected by
pressing button 6 and 8 respectively. The arrows located on the display 4 indicate the selection:
- The air flow is directed to the windscreen demisting vents and the side windows.
- The air flow is directed to the windscreen and side window demisting vents, and the passenger footwells.
- The air flow is directed mainly to the dashboard air vents.
- The air flow is directed towards all the air vents and the passenger footwells.
- The air flow is directed mainly towards the footwells.
Tip
The manual air distribution option causes the operation warning light to disappear
from the display 4 (automatic mode), but only air distribution is no longer controlled automatically
by the system.
To return to automatic mode, press the button 3.
Switching the air conditioning on or off
Operation
In automatic mode, the system switches the air conditioning system on or off, depending
on the climate conditions.
Press the button 2 to exit automatic mode: AUTO disappears from the display 4 and AC OFF appears.
Note: the "Clear View" function automatically activates the air conditioning function.
To return to automatic mode, press the button 3.
Varying the ventilation speed
In automatic mode, the system uses the most suitable amount of air to reach and maintain
the desired comfort level.
Press buttons 5 and 7 to exit automatic mode.
These buttons allow you to increase or decrease ventilation speed.
Rear screen and/or exterior rear view mirror de-icing/demisting.
Press the button 11 and the warning light will switch on.
This function allows electric demisting of the rear screen and/or the electric heated
rear view mirrors, depending on the vehicle.
To exit this function, press the button 11 again. Demisting automatically stops.
Tip
In automatic mode, depending on the outside air conditions, the ventilation may not
start immediately at maximum power but will increase progressively until the engine
temperature is warm enough to heat the passenger compartment air. This may take from
a few seconds to several minutes.
"Clear View" function
Operation
Press the button 1 and the warning lights for buttons 1 and 11 will illuminate.
AUTO disappears from the display 4.
This function rapidly demists/de-ices the windscreen, the front side windows and the
rear view mirrors.
It automatically activates the air conditioning and rear screen de-icing functions
and/or heated rear view mirrors, and inhibits air recirculation.
Press the button 11 if you do not wish to switch on the heated rear screen and/or heated rear view mirrors.
Note: if you wish to reduce the air flow (which may produce a certain amount of noise in
the passenger compartment), press button 5.
To exit this function, press:
- either by pressing button 1 again;
- either by pressing 3 (AUTO illuminates on the display).
Air recirculation
Press the button 12 to activate air recirculation (the symbol lights up on the display).
During recirculation, air is taken from the passenger compartment and is recycled,
with no air being taken from outside the vehicle.
Air recirculation allows the external atmosphere to be cut off (when driving in polluted
areas, etc.).
Prolonged use of the air recirculation mode may cause the windows to mist up or lead
to odours, as the air is not renewed.
We therefore advise you to return to normal mode (external air) as soon as the air
recirculation function is no longer required, by pressing the button 12 again.
