TYRE PRESSURE MONITOR
If the vehicle is equipped with the function, this system monitors the tyre pressure.
Operating principle
Each wheel (except for the emergency spare wheel) has a sensor in the inflation valve which periodically measures the tyre pressure.
The system displays the current pressures on the instrument panel 1 and alerts the driver in the event of insufficient pressure.
Resetting the standard level for the tyre pressures
This should be done:
- when the standard tyre pressure needs to be changed to adapt to usage conditions (empty, carrying a load, motorway driving, etc.);
- after swapping a wheel (however this practice is not recommended);
- after changing a wheel.
It should always be done after checking the tyre pressure of all four tyres when cold.
Tyre pressures must correspond to the current usage of the vehicle (empty, carrying a load, motorway driving, etc.).
Resetting procedure
Ignition on, vehicle stopped:
- Repeatedly tap switch 5 as many times as necessary to reach the vehicle tab;
- tap switch 2 or switch 3 to access the tyre pressures reset page. The message “SET tyre pressure (press and hold)” appears on the instrument panel;
- press and hold the 4 OK switch to launch the reset. The flashing tyres symbol followed by the message “Learning Tyre Pressures” indicates that the reset request for the tyre pressure has been acknowledged.
Reset can take several minutes of driving.
Note: the standard tyre pressure cannot be less than that recommended and indicated on the door frame.
Resetting can also be performed from the multimedia screen. Select “Vehicle”, “Tyre pressure”.
The table below shows the possible messages related to the tyre resetting procedure.
Steps | Displays (depending on the vehicle) | Messages | Readings |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Tyre pressure init. long press | With the ignition on and the vehicle stationary, start the resetting the pressure of all four tyres by pressing and holding the 4 OK switch. | |
2 | Learning Tyre Pressures | The “---” quote marks in front of each wheel will flash to indicate that the system has registered the tyre pressure reset for all four wheels. | |
3 | Tyre detection in progress | The “---” quote marks in front of each wheel will remain lit. This system resets the tyre pressure of all four tyres. You can now drive. The message may remain displayed during short journeys. Note: during the reset, tyre pressure monitoring remains in operation. | |
4 | The pressure value of the four tyres is displayed: the resetting procedure is complete and successful. |
Display
The display A and the warning light 6 on the instrument panel warn you of any tyre pressure faults (flat tyre, punctured tyre, system fault, etc.).
“Adjust tyre pressure”
A yellow wheel appears accompanied by a fixed 6 warning light and the message “Adjust Tyre Pressure”.
They indicate that a wheel is deflated.
Check and, if necessary, readjust the pressures of the four wheels when cold.
The warning light 6 goes off after a few minutes’ driving.
“Puncture”
A red wheel appears accompanied by a fixed 6 warning light and the message “Puncture” as well as a sound signal.
This message appears along with the ® warning light.
They indicate that the affected wheel is punctured or severely underinflated. Replace it or contact an approved dealer if it is punctured. Top up the tyre pressure if the wheel is deflated.
“Check tyre pressure sensors”
The wheel disappears and the warning light 6 flashes for several seconds before staying on and the message “Check Tyre Pressure Sensors” appears.
This message appears along with the © warning light. They indicate that at least one wheel is not fitted with sensors (e.g. emergency spare wheel). Otherwise, consult an authorised dealer.
For your safety, the warning light ® requires you to stop immediately as soon as traffic conditions allow.
The sudden loss of pressure in a tyre (burst tyre, etc.) cannot be detected by the system.
“Tyre location failure”
The message “Failure to detect tyres” appears during driving if one or more wheels have been fitted with sensors not recognised by the network.
Consult an approved dealer
Readjustment of tyre pressures
The pressures must be adjusted when the tyres are cold TYRE PRESSURE. If the tyre pressures cannot be checked when the tyres are cold, the recommended pressures should be increased by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 PSI).
Never deflate a hot tyre.
Replacing wheels/tyres
This system requires specific equipment (wheels, tyres, hubcaps, etc.). TYRES.
Contact an approved Dealer to fit new tyres and to find out about available accessories compatible with the system and available from your dealer network: the use of any other accessory could affect the correct operation of the system or damage a sensor.
Emergency spare wheel
If the vehicle is equipped with an emergency spare wheel, it will not have a sensor. If the vehicle is fitted with one, the warning light 6 flashes for several seconds then comes on continuously along with the © warning light, and the message “Check Tyre Pressure Sensors” appears on the instrument panel.
Tyre repair product and inflation kit
As the valves are specifically designed, only use equipment approved by the approved network. TYRE PRESSURE KIT.
This function is an additional driving aid.
However, the function is not intended to replace the driver. It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver. Check the tyre pressures, including the emergency spare wheel, once a month.
The information on the instrument panel signals any potential tyre pressure faults (e.g. deflated or punctured tyre). For your safety, the warning light ® requires you to stop immediately as soon as traffic conditions allow.
Indicator lights | Messages | Displays | Readings |
---|---|---|---|
| Adjust Tyre Pressure | The wheel and associated pressure value are displayed in yellow. This indicates that tyre under-inflation has been detected. Check and adjust the pressure of the four tyres then reset the system. | |
+ ® | Puncture | The wheel and associated pressure value are displayed in red. This indicates that the tyre concerned is punctured or severely underinflated. Adjust the pressure of the four tyres while cold and reset the system if the tyre is deflated. Replace the tyre (or have it replaced) if it is punctured. | |
+ © | Check Tyre Pressure Sensors | A wheel is no longer displayed. This indicates that at least one wheel is not fitted with a sensor (e.g. emergency spare wheel) or that the sensor is faulty. Consult an approved dealer. | |
| Failure to detect tyres | This indicates that the system has not been able to determine the pressure of each tyre. This may be caused by the use of a sensor not recommended by an approved dealer. The tyre pressure sensor monitoring system remains in operation. |
