Locking, unlocking the opening elements and doors
WARNING
Driver's responsibility
If you decide to keep the doors locked when you are driving, remember that it may
be more difficult for those assisting you to gain access to the passenger compartment
in the event of an emergency.
WARNING
Never leave your vehicle with the key, remote control or transmitter/receiver inside.
If the remote control does not work
In some cases, the radio frequency remote control may not work:
- radio frequency remote control battery worn out or vehicle battery discharged, etc.
- due to the use of electronic devices near to the remote control (e.g. mobile telephone);
- the vehicle is located in a high electromagnetic radiation zone.
It is then possible:
- to use the key integrated in the radio frequency remote control to unlock the front left-hand door;
- to lock each of the doors manually;
- to use the interior door locking/unlocking control (refer to the following pages).
Manual locking
Using the key
Lock or unlock the doors equipped with locks by inserting the key fully into the lock
1 then turning it.
Locking the doors manually
With the door open, turn the screw 2 (using the end of the key) and close the door.
This means that the door is then locked from the outside.
The doors may then only be opened from inside the vehicle or with the key for the
front doors.
Interior locking/unlocking door control
The switch 3 controls all the doors simultaneously.
If a door or the tailgate is open or not closed properly, the doors and tailgate lock/unlock
quickly.
Locking the opening elements without the remote control
With the engine off, the rear doors closed and a front door open, press the switch 3 for more than five seconds.
Make sure you have your key with you before you leave your vehicle.
When the door is closed, all the doors and tailgate will be locked.
Unlocking the driver’s door from outside the vehicle is only possible with the key
or the remote control.
Doors and tailgate status indicator light
With the ignition on, the switch 3 warning light indicates the locking status of the opening elements:
- when the warning light is on, the doors and luggage compartment door are locked;
- indicator light off, the doors and tailgate are unlocked.
When the ignition is off, the indicator light remains lit and then goes out when you
lock the doors.
Locking the doors with the tailgate open
To lock the vehicle leaving a door open (e.g. when transporting something in the luggage
compartment which prevents it from being closed), or when the vehicle is located in
a high electromagnetic radiation zone, or if the key is faulty: with the ignition
switched off, press and hold the switch 3 for more than five seconds.
Automatic locking when driving
WARNING
Driver's responsibility
If you decide to keep the doors locked when you are driving, remember that it may
be more difficult for those assisting you to gain access to the passenger compartment
in the event of an emergency.
You can decide whether you want to activate this function.
Operating principle
After the vehicle is started, the system automatically locks the doors when you reach
approximately 4 mph (7 km/h).
The door can be unlocked:
- by pressing the door unlocking switch 1;
- at a standstill, by opening a front door from inside the vehicle.
Activating/deactivating the function
To activate it: with the ignition on, press the switch 1 for approximately five seconds until you hear a beep. The switch indicator light
comes on when the doors are locked.
To deactivate it: with the ignition on, press the switch 1 for approximately five seconds until you hear a beep. The warning light goes out.
Operating faults
If you experience an operating fault (no automatic locking, switch warning light 1 does not light up when trying to lock the opening elements, etc.), first check that
the opening elements are properly closed. If they are properly closed and the fault
is still present, contact an approved Dealer.
Also make sure that locking has not been inadvertently deactivated.
If it has, switch the ignition off and on again and reactivate it.
