FRONT AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT

Opening the bonnet
To open, pull the release switch 1, raise the bonnet slightly and lift the paddle 4. Lift the bonnet. Position the stay 3 in its housing 2.
Closing the bonnet
Check that nothing has been left in the engine compartment. Position the stay 3 in its housing 5. Take hold of the bonnet, guide it down to about 30 cm from its position when closed, and then let it drop. It will latch automatically under its own weight. Check that it is locked.
Coolant level
The level should be read with the engine switched off and on level ground. The level indicated on the reservoir 6 should be between the MINI and MAXI marks.
If it is necessary to top up this level, it is essential to do so when the engine is cold.
Screen washer fluid level
Add some fluid to the reservoir 9 if necessary. To check the level, please refer to Section 4 of your driver’s handbook.

Engine oil level
To check the oil level, use the dipstick 8.
The level indicated on the dipstick 8 should be between MINI A and MAXI B. If the oil level is at minimum, the message “Adjust oil level” is displayed on the instrument panel. Unscrew the cap 7 to adjust the level.
You must observe the service intervals and the standards governing the oils tested for your engine. Refer to the maintenance document for the vehicle, and to Section 4 of the vehicle handbook for the precautions to take when filling with oil.
